This week is all about the Greek

The Panhellenic Council is throwing Hope College’s annual Greek Week. Greek Life takes up a significant part of the student body, and this is the time for those students to come out and show what being greek is all about. Greek students aren’t just in Greek Life, they are in so many other activities on campus. Students are involved in The Pull, sports, academic clubs, dance marathon and so much more.

The Panhellenic Council is the governing board of sororities and made up of three representatives from each sorority, one for each class year. The purpose of this unique organization is to “initiate and correlate such action as is required to foster harmonious and efficient inter-sorority relationships, and to further engender a cooperative spirit between the sororities and the college communities.”

In real life, this means acting as a council of Greek women from all organizations to lead and promote Greek Life in ways such as decision-making, fundraising and leadership building, as well as coordinating exciting events such as Greek Week, service projects and Rush.
The Panhellenic Council is dedicated to Greek Life at Hope College and is working toward success in all Greek organizations.

Greek Week is about connecting with the whole campus and each day gives a lot to do.

Monday was a cool day, as all the actives and alumni wore their letters. Professors supported their fraternities and sororities from when they were actives back in the day. The theme was Monday Funday, with music, relay races, corn hole and other fun in the pine grove. All were welcome to participate and have a good time.

Tuesday held a wiffle ball/basketball tournament with the Emersonians and Sibs. Petrino’s was provided and it was a great time for laughs and friendly competition.

Wednesday in chapel, Paul Boersma will be talking about greek life, followed by some community service in the pine grove at 4 pm. There will be a “stuff the van” with non perishables and personal care items, old clothing drive for salvation army and a Habitat for Humanity live service event. Head down there and see what you can do to help out your community and show what Hope’s students can really do.

This Thursday, join Greek Life in wearing pink to honor those who suffer from breast cancer. It’s a time to show that Hope really cares. And if you’re interested in Greek Life, join some Greek members at the coffeehouse at 9 pm. Listen to greek life members talk about their experience in Greek Life and enjoy some provided snacks.
Greek Week is all about Greek members connecting with the campus. So students come out and have a good time!
