Alabama is in, OSU out as fans look forward to bowl season

After months of entertaining football, we have finally come to the best time of the year. College football Bowl season. And we also finally have our final four for the College Football Playoff. They are: Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia and Alabama. Clemson will be facing the Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl, the third time in three years that they will face off in the College Football playoff. Oklahoma’s high-powered offense will be taking on one staunch defensive front for the Georgia Bulldogs in the Rose Bowl. Two playoffs will be analyzed plus a couple of must-watch Bowl games over Christmas break.

Sugar Bowl
Alabama vs. Clemson
Alabama and Clemson have been the largest rivals for the Playoff of the college football era. Both are led by future Hall of Fame coaches Nick Saban and Dabo Sweeney. Each team has beaten the other in the Playoff national championship game. The Crimson Tide have been struggling on their usually elite defense due to multiple injuries, especially in the linebacking core. The offense has been led by Jalen Hurts, Calvin Ridley and Damian Harris. Hurts has thrown 15 touchdowns on the season. Ridley has caught 55 of Hurt’s passes for 896 yards. Harris has averaged 8.2 yards per carry this season.

Their loss to Auburn showed that the injuries were wearing them down. They are facing an elite Clemson team, led by Kelly Bryant, who has thrown for 2,678 yards this season. The loss to Syracuse looks to be only a minor road bump as Clemson has rolled through the ACC, beating elite squads like Miami, South Carolina and NC State.

Alabama lost to Deshaun Watson heroics last season. This is going to be a close game, but the Clemson Tigers will slightly edge out the Crimson Tide and put themselves into the national championship game.

Rose Bowl
Oklahoma vs. Georgia
This game puts together the best of the best: Oklahoma’s offense against Georgia’s defense. This is going to be the most entertaining game of the entire Bowl season. The high- powered offense of Oklahoma is led by Heisman front-runner Baker Mayfield. Mayfield has thrown the ball for 4,340 yards and 41 touchdowns. Many of those passes go to Marquis “Hollywood” Brown, who has caught 49 passes for 981 yards and six touchdowns. A single loss to Iowa State this year has left the Sooners without an undefeated season to cap off Mayfield’s historic college career. They will be facing one of the best defenses in college football in the Georgia Bulldogs. This team is led by Roquan Smith, who has 113 total tackles on the season. However, a nasty loss to Auburn shows that they can be beaten, even if they got revenge in the SEC championship game. Prediction: This one is a very hard pick, and it all depends on if Mayfield can outshine some of the best defenders in the country, but he likely will. Oklahoma will go on to the National Championship game.

Oklahoma’s crazy good offense will beat out Clemson in what could very well be a classic.

Alamo Bowl
Stanford vs.TCU
Bryce Love versus Kenny Hill could be a very entertaining matchup between two of the best offensive players in the country.

Holiday Bowl
Washington St. vs. Michigan St.
Two very good football teams at 9-3. Both teams have shown all season to be able to beat good football squads, like Michigan for Michigan State and USC for Washington State. Also, Mike Leach versus Mark Dantonio could be a fun coaching matchup.
