Make a smooth move by mixing up the routine

You might possibly wonder what is up with the green smoothie buzz surfacing and why you see photos popping up on your timelines featuring different blended concoctions. Well, let me hop on the bandwagon here and let you in on some maybe unknown benefits to drinking a smoothie. A major benefit of the smoothie is that you can pack your body with lots of nutrients and fat-busting boosters to kickstart your day or upgrade your mid-day snack. A little bioactive compound called flavonoid can work wonders for your body upon consumption over a stretch of time.

According to a 2016 study by BMJ: “Among fruits, an increased intake of blueberries, apples, pears, prunes, strawberries, and grapes was inversely associated with weight gain.” Plus, it’s easy to add some greens into the fruit-packed smoothie. Kale, arugula, spinach and other leafy greens won’t overpower your drink even if they make the smoothie green. If you have a sweet tooth, you can try adding honey for more natural sweetness. Smoothies also keep you full longer and reduce cravings. So instead of taking a bag of chips and juicebox to go, try having a protein-packed smoothie.

Here are two smoothies I created this past week with the ingredients I used. I am not much of a measurer when it comes to smoothies and I recommend throwing stuff in the blender until it fits your mood; trial and error so to speak. Smoothies are a great way to use fresh produce that is at the end of its lifespan, that you do not plan on eating. Try different fruits and veggies like carrots or beets. You would be surprised at how little you can taste a vegetable when it is surrounded by fruit. I would also recommend getting a glass bottle like the one I have in my photos. I got mine at Meijer for about $10 and it keeps the smoothie cold, while also being easier to clean with its wide top. Also, I like to make my smoothie without ice and then just throw it in the fridge for a bit, but you can definitely use ice if you are on the go, or throw in yogurt to add thickness to your smoothie.
