TASTEFULLY TWISTED BLUEGRASS SALUTE: The renowned sound of the late Bill Monroe, often called the “father of bluegrass music,” came to the Jack Miller Recital Hall on campus this past Sunday. Three college Music Department folk ensembles took turns interpreting beloved songs of the mandolin master himself, and the resulting renditions ranged from straightforwardly Appalachian in tenor to decidedly eclectic and even classical in approach. It was a packed house for the show, with extra chairs rolled in to handle the overcapacity gathering.
